BETHEL ACRES — Junior southpaw Josh Maddox tossed a complete-game two-hitter Tuesday as McLoud upended Bethel 6-1.

Maddox struck out 10 and issued five base on balls. Both Bethel hits were singles.

McLoud tallied four runs in the third inning, then added single runs in the fifth and seventh.

Lane Annis led McLoud’s six-hit attack with two singles. Jase Mehring was 1 for 1 with two runs batted in on a groundout and a hit by pitch.

Zac Green added a double as McLoud avenged a 12-8 Monday loss to Bethel.

“We played a little better,” McLoud coach Chris Olds said. “We played well defensively, threw strikes and controlled the game.”

Bethel starter Josh Elmore took the loss after giving up five hits, fanning two and walking two in 4 1/3 innings.

Both teams were credited with two errors.

McLoud (13-14) will take on Latta at noon Thursday in the Byng Tournament. If the Redskins win, they will play Tuttle Friday. A loss against Latta would send McLoud up against Byng’s JV squad Friday.

The tournament is slated to end Saturday.

Bethel (8-18) will be matched up against Glenpool at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Okmulgee Tournament.
