Tulsa Kelley’s girls, one of the Class 5A powerhouse squads, blanked district foe Shawnee 5-0 Tuesday night at Jim Thorpe Stadium.

“Tulsa Kelley has shut out everybody in our district,” Shawnee head coach Jason Merrell said. “But our kids kept their composure and continued to compete. No one gave up. They were just a better team.”

Kelley scored three times in the opening half, then added two second-half goals.

Sebastion Rodriguez, Shawnee’s starting goalkeeper, surrendered three goals and made three saves. Tristan Haddad, who also saw time in the net, gave up two goals but contributed eight saves.

Shawnee is 6-7 overall and 1-3 in district play.

Shawnee’s girls lost a 10-0 run-rule district matchup to Kelley.

Both Shawnee teams will be home Friday against Tulsa Edison as part of Senior Night. The girls will play at 5 p.m. with the boys slated to play at 7.
