The Pride 2001 16U softball team competed in the USSSA Midwest National Softball Championship Tournament in Bentonville, Arkansas last weekend.
The team consisted of 10 area girls from Dale, Seminole, Latta, Allen, New Lima, Tecumseh, and Prague and they faced opponents from eight different states represented in the tournament.
The girls lost their opener to fall into the loser’s bracket but rallied with a six-game winning streak to make it to the championship round against an unbeaten Kansas team. Needing two wins to take the crown, Pride was able to win the first game 4-1 to force the deciding game. Pride was able to get out to an early lead in the second game for a 7-1 win to take the national title.
