DALE – After a 19-0 blasting to open up the season at their home tournament Thursday, Dale was handed a 6-3 loss Friday at the hands of Roff.
The Pirates took a two-run lead in the bottom of the first with an RBI double from Gant Hathcock and and error on a Drew Reed hit. Roff got one run back in the second but Cooper Hunt gave up a two-run blast in the third to give Dale their first deficit of the early season.
Bryce Crawford took a walk in the third with bases loaded to tie back up, but a strong fifth and sixth inning for Roff coupled with the Pirates not being able to string much together led to their loss.
Hunt threw for four innings in the loss and gave up five runs on three hits. Reed gave up three hits and one unearned run in a little more than an inning of work and Crawford closed with just under two innings pitched and struck out three batters.
The Pirates will close out the tournament today.
