TECUMSEH — Top-ranked Dale required nine innings to stay undefeated Thursday as it nipped Tecumseh 6-5.
Dale scored the winning run in the top of the ninth inning. Montana Lam opened the frame with a single, advanced to second on Rylie Premo’s walk and scored on Sara Lock’s one-out double to left center. Dale left runners at second and third, but Tecumseh couldn’t score in the bottom of the ninth.
Delanie Manning authored a route-going eight-hitter for the Lady Pirates. Manning fanned four batters and walked three as Dale improved to 11-0.
Dale collected 16 hits but stranded 12 runners.
“We had chance after chance to break it open and couldn’t do it,” Dale coach Andy Powell said.
Lam led the way with three singles and an RBI.
Lock had a triple to go with her two-bagger. Four other Lady Pirates — Mikayla Rutland, Emmie Idleman, Premo and Manning — delivered two hits with Manning posting a double.
For Tecumseh (5-3), Channing Scallorn drove in two runs off a double and single.
