PRAGUE — Prague took its Prague Tournament host role seriously Thursday, knocking off Latta (6-5,) Okmulgee (8-2) and Tushka (5-4).
In its opener against Latta, Prague scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning for a 4-0 lead. Latta knotted matters at 4 in the third, but Prague eventually prevailed with a run in the bottom of the fifth on Rachel Rumsey’s walkoff home run.
Prague compiled seven hits with Rumsey and Taylor Hodges posting two apiece.
Beth Denney of Asher also had a home run and drove in two runs.
In five innings of pitching, Denney allowed six hits, fanned three and walked five. Four of the Latta runs were unearned.
Denney also claimed the pitching victory against Okmulgee with a two-hitter. Denney whiffed eight and didn’t issue a walk.
Denney threw 58 pitches, 44 of which were strikes.
Leadoff hitter Macyn Anderson led the assault against Okmulgee, going 3 of 3 with a double while scoring three times. Hodges and Rumsey posted two hits each with Rumsey collecting a double.
Opposite Tushka, Anderson’s walkoff single in the bottom of the sixth provided the victory.
Adisyn Auld and Anderson netted two hits each with Auld providing a home run. Teammate Jaycee Johnson added a double.
Denney earned another victory with a four-hitter. She didn’t issue a walk while striking out seven.
