SHAWNEE – For the second time in under a week, the Shawnee softball team routed Noble with a run-rule victory Saturday. The Lady Wolves topped the Bears 11-1 Saturday in the final game of the Shawnee Tournament at FireLake. The contest followed a 7-5 win over Guthrie earlier that morning.
Up 1-0 in the top of the second, Tatum Sparks doubled to spark a three-run rally and extend Shawnee's lead. Sadie Smith and Carlie Torbett each singled to drive in a run in the rally.
Skyla Copeland scored Kalie Kasterke on a single in the fourth, Sparks tripled to tack on two more runs a Smith drove in Sparks with a single to lead 8-0.
Torbett tripled out to right field to drive in Sparks and Smith in the top of the fifth. Nariah Perez came in to pitch in the bottom of the inning and recorded three straight outs to end the game.
Baylie Enright got the start on the mound and pitched through the first four innings. She gave up one run on one hit and struck out two batters.
Kristin Haddox was 2-for-2 against Guthrie with two doubles and a sacrifice and brought home three runs. Smith was 2-3 with a double and scored three times, Torbett brought in two runs and Laynie Rimer singled to bring another run in.
The Lady Wolves (6-5) host 9-3 Meeker Monday at 5.
