ROFF – Drew Reed drove in David Herring and Gant Hathcock with a double in the top of the eighth to seal a 6-4 extra-inning win over Roff Saturday.
Herring doubled to reach base with one out and Hathcock was hit by a pitch. Blake McQuain struck out looking for the second out to bring Reed up to the plate.
Cooper Hunt reached on a two-out error that allowed Bryce Crawford to score in the top of the seventh, but an RBI single by Roff in the bottom of the inning forced the game to extend past regulation.
Roff led 3-1 after four innings, but Jonathon Johnson brought in Reed and Crawford with a single to tie things up.
Herring and Reed had two hits each and Hathcock and Crawford were both walked twice.
Hunt pitched for 7 and 1/3 innings for the Pirates and gave up four runs on nine hits. He struck out six and walked four. Crawford replaced him for the final two outs and struck out one batter.
The No. 5 in Class A Pirates move to 7-2 on the season with the win. They will host Byng Monday at 4:30 and travel to Ripley Tuesday.
