MAUD – Behind 52 first half points, the Maud Tigers topped Bowlegs 58 - 8 Thursday night. The win was the first in the coaching career of Brant Hayes.
“I'm extremely proud of these ten guys,” Hayes said. “They go all out each day in practice and they don't complain and do everything I ask them to do. I wish we had a few more guys but these 10 bought in to what we're doing.”
On Maud's second play from scrimmage Bryce Reid scampered in from 44 yards putting the Tigers up 6-0 with less than a minute off the clock.
“We want to try and jump out on teams early,” Hayes said. “I don't want to be the coach that points everybody, but with only 10 guys we want to get it done and get out of there with no injuries.”
The second, time the Tigers touched the ball, quarterback Braylen Brewer scored from eight yards out. Reid would add two on the conversion, putting Maud up 14-0 before Bowlegs crossed midfield.
With the third possession, Brewer took a 69-yard run to the house, giving Maud a 20 point lead.
Four plays later, Reid took a 44-yard interception in for a score. He would also add the two point conversion, and Maud led 28-0.
The very next time Maud touched the ball, Reid scored from 60 yards out. Brewer added a two point conversion to extend the lead to 36-0.
Brewer kept pace with his teammate scoring on a 44-yard run. Brady Arms got in on the scoring action adding a conversion.
With less than two minutes on the clock, Bowlegs got on the scoreboard, when Chase Crockett found Kaden Jasna on a six-yard pass.
Maud continued the scoring barrage on a 47-yard touchdown pass from Brewer to Reid. The two point conversion was completed by Reid and the Tigers took a 52-8 lead into halftime.
Brady Arms scored on a six yard touchdown to end the game with the score 58-8 in favor of Maud.
Reid led all rushers with seven carries for 154 yards and two scores. He also hauled in 1 reception for 44 yards and one touchdown.
Brewer was two for four with 57 yards and one touchdown. He also carried the rock five times for 148 yards and two touchdowns.
