TUSHKA – The Lady Devils of Prague split on the day with two losses and two wins at the Tushka Tournament Thursday. They lost to Caddo 4-3 and Antlers 2-0 but beat Dickson 8-3 and Atoka 10-2.
The girls got two runs in the first inning against Caddo on an RBI triple from Beth Denney and a sacrifice by Rachel Rumsey, but gave up a run in the fourth and a three-run double in the fifth for Caddo to gain the lead and were unable to regain it.
Denney pitched the contest and gave up four runs on six hits with one earned run and five strikeouts.
The girls started the day with a 2-0 loss to Antlers, after giving up two runs in the top of the seventh on a single and an error.
Denney threw six innings and struck out eight and allowing two hits. Hallie Cooper closed and gave up one run on one hit.
Denney provided a spark to drive in five runs in the win over Atoka that included a two-run triple. She reached on an error to score Josi Goodman in the first and drove in Goodman again with a single in the fourth.
Goodman and Denney each had three hits and Macyn Anderson, Brittany Harwell, Karsyn Coleman and Rumsey had two apiece.
Harwell tossed the game and struck out three and walked three in five innings of work to give up two runs on four hits.
Goodman was the main contributor in a seven-run rally in the top of the sixth to gave Prague their 8-3 win over Dickson.
With two outs and bases loaded, Goodman hit a three-run triple to give Prague some extra padding and was brought in on a single from Rumsey, who kicked off the sixth inning attack with an RBI single. Gracie Hightower singled to score Cooper and Harwell and take a 4-3 lead.
Goodman finished the game 2-3 and drove in four runs. Rumsey and Hightower brought in two runs apiece and Denney had a triple.
Harwell pitched for three innings, walked five and gave up three runs. Denney closed with two hits and one strikeout.
