Down 5-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Shawnee erupted for six runs to stun district foe Skiatook 6-5.

Coach David Rolette’s squad collected six straight sixth-inning hits, launched by singles from Trinity Streater, Tatum Sparks and Sadie Smith. Carlie Torbett followed with a 2-run double, Kristin Haddox ripped a run-scoring 2-bagger and Tiara Blackshire concluded the rally with a 2-run double.

Shawnee finished with eight hits as it raised its district mark to 3-2 and avenged an earlier 2-1 setback to i.

Shawnee is 10-5 overall.

Picher Baylie Enright, who went all seven innings, earned the win to move to 9-3. Enright gave up nine hits, whiffed two and walked three.,

Blackshire was 2 for 3 as was Smith.

Shawnee finished with two errors while Skiatook had one.

“We got off to a slow start, but the girls kept battling,” Rolette said. “It was a huge win for us. It kind of puts us back in the middle of the pack where we can control our destiny now.

Shawnee will resume action Tuesday with a varsity/JV doubleheader at Bethel.
