TECUMSEH — The Savages of Tecumseh roared out to a 30-8 halftime lead en route to a 55-14 blasting of Bethel Friday night.

Brayden James, Jarad Maxwell and Brendan Calvillo scored two touchdowns apiece as Tecumseh opened its 2017 campaign

James also threw a 17-yard scoring strike to Cameron Masquat.

The longest scoring runs of the first half were James’ 52-yarder to launch the scoring and Maxwell’s 37-yarder for the second touchdown.

Tecumseh rolled up 570 rushing yards on 43 attempts for a 13.3-yard average.

James collected a game-high 246 yards on 14 carries — a 17.56 average.

Calvillo, in nine carries, rolled up 171 yards, including a 60-yard TD dash in the third quarter.

Bethel was limited to 54 yards rushing on 35 carries.

Jaylen Walker accumulated 85 yards on nine carries, including a 33-yard touchdown dash.

Bethel’s first-half touchdown came on Peyton Barney’s 8-yard run. Gunner Smith converted a 2-point run. In the third quarter, Bethel’s Dre Wood returned a kickoff 72 yards for a touchdown.

Bethel, 0-2, will play Friday at Okemah. Tecumseh will travel to Seminole.
