BETHEL ACRES — A masterful pitching performance by Jordyn Zachary propelled Bethel to a 1-0 victory over Shawnee Tuesday.
Zachary fanned 16 batters in seven innings. She didn’t allow a walk.
Sadie Smith posted Shawnee’s sole hit, a two-out triple in the top of the third inning.
All nine SHS batters were strikeout victims with two of the batters fanning three times each.
Bethel’s run came in the bottom of the fourth as Rian Gamble led off with a single and eventually scored on Karlie Lamb’s single to center.
Gamble was the game’s only multiple hitter with two singles.
Of Zachary’s 84 pitches, 65 were strikes.
Shawnee pitcher Baylie Enright was superb, allowing three hits, all singles. She didn’t issue a walk and struck out two.
Shawnee, 10-6, will play in the Carl Albert Tournament Friday and Saturday.
Bethel will launch McLoud Tournament play Thursday. Bethel will collide with Stroud at 4 p.m. and Dale at 7 p.m. Both games are scheduled for Dale.
