DALE – Bethel's Jordyn Zachary handed previously undefeated Dale their first loss of the season Thursday with a 1-0 shutout in the McLoud/Dale Tournament at Dale. The game followed a one-hit bid against Shawnee on Tuesday and was followed up with an 11-0 shutout by Maylin Hladik to Stroud.
Karlie Lamb grounded out to score Brooklyn Giddens in the bottom of the sixth as the only run of the game against Dale.
Jobey Savage was the only member of either squad to earn an extra base hit with a double.
Zachary gave up three hits, fanned 10 and walked two for the win. Losing pitcher Delanie Manning gave up four hits and struck out seven batters.
The Wildcats leapt ahead of Stroud 7-0 with a seven run rally in the third and added four insurance runs in the fourth.
Reanna McGowen started the scoring attack with a three-run triple and Mya Green kept it going with a two-run double. Both girls drove in three runs apiece and Lamb and McGowen each had two hits.
Hladik struck out three and walked two in four innings of work to earn the win.
Bethel plays Okemah today at 10 and will face Meeker at 11:30. Dale will play Stroud at 2:30. All three games will be at Dale.
