DALE — Bethel needed just eight total innings to record victories over Meeker (12-2) and Okemah (14-3) Friday at the McLoud Tournament.

Bethel, 4-0 at the tournament, advanced to today’s 6 p.m. championship contest against Harrah.

In its first game of the day, Bethel combined 11 hits with five Okemah errors. Bethel netted eight first-inning runs and the game was stopped after 3 ½ innings on the run rule.

Jordyn Zachary, Bethel’s only multiple hitter with a double and single, drove in three runs.

Brooklyn Giddens also doubled and drove in three runs.

Mya Green, Karlie Lamb and Maylin Hladik scored twice each.

Zachary went the first two innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits. Hladik, who went the final two innings, surrendered three hits but no runs.

Bethel (16-9) never trailed Meeker after scoring four runs in the top of the first. The run-rule game was stopped after 4 ½ innings.

Zachary allowed two runs and three hits in five innings. She produced 10 strikeouts and walked one.

Rian Gamble, Reanna McGowen, Lila Wade, Hladik, Lamb and Green finished with two hits with Green and Lamb doubling.

“The girls are playing really well,” Bethel coach Chad Smith said. “The defense and offense are coming around. It’s a good time with the playoffs starting in about three weeks.”
