DALE — The Pirates of Dale struck early Friday en route to an 11-5 triumph over Latta.

A two-run first inning and a three-run second put Dale up 5-0 and the visitors never got closer than two runs.

Cleanup hitter Blake McQuain spearheaded Dale’s 11-hit arsenal with a 3 of 4 outing which included a home run, three runs scored and two runs batted in.

Pirate Jonathan Johnson drove in three runs off a double and single while Bryce Crawford and Scout Capps offered two singles apiece.

Crawford drove in two runs.

Latta’s Tyler Dean posted a home run and double.

Dale employed three pitchers, beginning with Cooper Hunt for four innings. Hunt permitted four runs (three earned) and six hits. He fanned three.

McQuain, who was credited with the win, was charged with one run and two hits in a two-inning stint. He fanned three.

David Herring retired Latta in order in the seventh.

Dale, 14-3, will entertain Okarche at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
