STERLING – Dale's Cooper Hunt threw for five perfect innings in a 14-0 shutdown over Sterling Saturday.

Hunt struck out eight batters along the way and the Pirates forced Sterling to go through four pitchers.

Gant Hathcock hit a two-run double and was brought home on a groundout from Scout Capps to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.

Hathcock sparked a seven run rally in the second with an RBI single and was followed up on a two run single from Blake McQuain. The Pirates added four more insurance runs in the fifth.

Hathcock led the team at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and driving in four runs. McQuain was 3-4 with three RBI and Bryce Crawford took four walks.

The 17-4 No. 3 in Class A Pirates host No. 8 Varnum Monday at 4:30.
