SHAWNEE – The Shawnee boys cross country team finished in second place at the OBU Invitational Saturday at Gordon Cooper Technology Center as the girls team took third. Coach Aaron Partridge was happy with how well his team did in their home meet.
“Both our boys and girls handled the conditions well,” he said. “It's a tough course and it was pretty windy, but our kids competed and that's all you can ask.”
Clifford Littleton finished sixth overall to lead the Wolves with a time of 18:08.15. Brice Koons (18:33.78) took ninth, Kyle Henry (18:44.06) came in 10th and Clay Dominy rounded out the top 15 for Shawnee with a time of 18:53.84 for 12th.
Buddy Cahall (19:25.84) and David Skinner-McAfee (19:29.59) also finished in the top 20.
Jensen Miller had the top time for the Shawnee girls with a 23:33.28 finish for 14th trailed shortly behind by Serenity Rezentes in 23:37.78 for 15th. Kiera Gonzales (24:48.91) finished in 25th.
The girls have taken steps to improving as a team lately and the older members of the boys team have shown their leadership.
“Our girls are getting better eveyr meet and the senior boys really stepped up,” Partridge said.
The boys will go to Durant Saturday and the boys and girls teams will race in Putnam City, September 29.
