MAUD — Propelled by 20 hits, Maud knocked off Calvin (14-4) and Sasakwa (24-12) Thursday to move within one win of a district crown.

Opposite Calvin, Maud combined eight hits with 15 walks in the five-inning contest. Calvin led the hosts 4-2 after three inning, only to have Maud tally seven runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth to bring about the run rule.

Jada Wright, who came on in relief in the second, permitted one hit and fanned one. She walked four in getting the win.

Jocee Sparks slammed a 3-run homer for Maud. MeganWallis added triple while Jaycee Gamble and Aubrey Tuttle had a two-bagger apiece.

In the six-inning nightcap, Wright allowed two hits and whiffed five.

Gamble posted an inside-the-park home run. Willis and Sparks added a triple apiece.

Maud, 15-12, will capture the district title with a 1 p.m. victory today today over Sasakwa.
