PRYOR – Shawnee lost a 4-0 shootout with No. 1 in District 5A-3 Pryor Saturday morning to keep the Lady Wolves from being the first team in the district to hand the 11-0 Tigers a loss. The first time the two teams played earlier in the season, Shawnee lost 3-1.
A two-out error in the first advanced runners to second and third and a double drove both in to go ahead 2-0. Pryor got on with a lead-off single again in the third and advanced on a passed ball before two sacrifices scored another run. A home run in the sixth added one more insurance run.
University of Oklahoma commit Olivia Rains held the Lady Wolves to three hits and struck out six.
Tatum Sparks had a double in the sixth for the only extra base hit for Shawnee and Tiara Blackshire and Kristin Haddox each recorded a single in the contest.
Baylie Enright was handed the loss for Shawnee, giving up eight hits and fanning four.
The 18-8 (8-3) Lady Wolves will host 18-9 (7-3) Coweta in a district game Monday at 5:30 to determine who will take second place. A win for Shawnee will seal the runner-up spot and allow them to host their regional. If Coweta wins, the two will have to play one more game to determine who takes second.
