DALE — Behind a three-hitter by Delanie Manning, Class 2A top-ranked Dale blasted Stroud 10-0 Friday to advance to next week’s state fast-pitch tournament.
Manning, who threw 13 innings Thursday as Dale prevailed twice, had to go just five innings Friday because of a run rule.
Up 1-0 going into the bottom of the third inning, Dale combined seven hits with three walks for a nine-run explosion. The game was stopped after 4 ½ innings.
“Delanie was tired. Her velocity wasn’t as good because of pitching Thursday,” Dale coach Andy Powell said.
Manning fanned four and didn’t issue a walk. She also contributed a 2-run double.
Mikayla Rutland added a double. Teammates Sydney Griggs and Emmie Idleman posted two singles apiece.
Stroud knocked off Pawnee 4-3 earlier Friday to advance to the championship.
Dale, 36-1, will launch state tournament action Thursday at Oklahoma City’s Hall of Fame Stadium. The Secondary Activities Association will release pairings and times Monday.
Powell’s squad will warm up for state action by playing Monday at Newcastle.
Dale finished as the 2016 fast-pitch runner-up, losing 5-3 to Latta in the finals. The Lady Pirates finished 36-4.
