KIOWA – Maud saw their season come to an end Saturday in the finals of the regional fast pitch tournament in Kiowa. The Lady Tigers won their first game of the day 7-4 over New Lima to advance to the finals where they needed two wins to make it to the state tournament but lost to Kiowa 8-0 to drop out of the running.

Kaylee Sanders reached on an error in the bottom of the first against New Lima to allow Jada Wright to score. Wright tripled in the bottom of the second to bring in Aubrey Tuttle to go ahead 2-1 and Jocee Sparks singled to bring her home.

Wright doubled to center in the fourth to bring home Autumn Harrington and kick off a three-run rally in the fourth.

Wright and Madison Whitman were each 3-4 in the game and Wright and Sparks drove in two runs apiece. Whitman had a double.

Wright was awarded the win in the circle. She struck out five, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Whitman and Wright both singled as the only two successful hitters in the game against Kiowa.

Wright gave up 10 hits and seven earned runs in the circle and walked three.

The girls opened regionals Friday with a 10-6 win as Sparks and Megan Willis homered. They lost to Kiowa 9-1 in their second game to force them to play from behind. 

The Lady Tigers finish the season 17-14 as the No. 19 ranked team in Class B.
