McALESTER — Shawnee limited McAlester to 157 yards total offense in smothering the Buffaloes 31-0 Friday night.

Junior Donovan Neal blocked two kicks and returned them for touchdowns as Shawnee improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in District 3A-3.

McAlester, 0-5 overall, is 0-2 in 3A-3.

Shawnee led just 10-0 at halftime, thanks to a 3-yard scoring run by Trejuan Shaw and Braden Barlean’s 40-yard field goal.

Neal’s first blocked-kick touchdown made it 17-0 in the third quarter. When Heath Hunter hooked up with LJ McKissick on a 66-yard pass, the Wolves led 24-0. Neal’s second blocked kick and Barlean’s fourth point-after kick concluded the scoring.

Shaw was the game’s leading rusher with 83 yards on 15 carries. Eli Martin led McAlester with 102 yards on 17 carries.

Hunter completed 14 of 22 passes for 203 yards without an interception. Senior Cale Reed headed Shawnee’s passing statistics with four catches for 85 yards. Trenton Skinner caught five passes for 33 yards and Scout Cawvey fielded three for 18 yards.

Brayden McGinnis was Shawnee’s tackling leader with 9.5. Kaiden Johnson notched six tackles while Josh Wilder had 4.5 tackles and intercepted a pass.

McAlester rushed for 84 yards on 27 carries, a 3.1-yard average. Quarterback Chris Hilton was 12 of 26 through the airways for 73 yards.

Shawnee will continue district competition Friday with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Coweta at Jim Thorpe Stadium.
