Bethel scored two runs on two hits in the first two innings, but that was all of the offense they could muster in a 7- loss to Washington on Senior Night for the Lady Wildcats.

Rian Gamble opened the bottom of the first with a shot past the third baseman that could have been called a hit, but the official scorer said she reached on an error.

Gamble was moved to second by Reanna McGowen. Senior Maylin Hladik reached on an errant throw by the Washington pitcher and Gamble hustled around third to score the game's first run.

Jordyn Zachary hurled her second inning in a row with two strikeouts in the top of the second before Bethel scored again in the bottom half of the inning.

Senior Mya Green ripped a double over the head of the right fielder. Zachary moved her to third base and senior Rayah Mayo hit a ball between third and shortstop. Green broke for the plate and the throw home hit her in the back as she slid safely across the plate.

Zachary left the circle after two innings and Hladik took her spot. She held Washington scoreless through the fourth inning.

Karlie Lamb came in to pitch in the fifth and gave up a single and two walks. Zachary returned to pitch and struck out two more before two errors allowed Washington to take the lead.

The Warriors scored three more in the seventh for the 7-2 win.

Zachary took the loss despite allowing only two earned runs. She struck out nine in five bookend innings. The Lady Wildcats committed six errors.

Washington will be back in action against Prague at 11 a.m. Thursday in the first round of the 3A State Tournament. Bethel will begin Regional play this week.
