DALE – No. 4 in Class A Dale lost a tune-up game to No. 1 in Class B Red Oak 9-2 Monday in preparation for this weekend's state tournament.

Carson Hunt singled in the bottom of the fifth to drive in Cooper Hunt and Austin Custar for Dale's two runs.

Blake McQuain and Gant Hathcock each doubled, Custar had two hits and Jonathon Johnson walked twice.

Red Oak rallied with four runs in the third and added four insurance runs in the sixth. Tanner Hood had a solo shot in the fifth.

The Pirates went through four pitchers in the matchup. Drew Reed went for three innings and gave up six hits and four runs. McQuain went for two innings to allow three hits and one run and Bryce Crawford allowed four hits and four runs in on inning. Johnson also pitched one inning and struck out one.

Dale opens up the state tournament against Wright City Thursday at 1:30 at Mustang. If they win, they will advance to an 11:00 a.m. game against Tushka or Oktaha Friday at Mustang. The championship game will be Saturday at 2:30 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
