LITTLE AXE — Ignited by a dominating offensive line and the running of Calvin Boyce, Prague blitzed Little Axe 47-6 Friday night in a District 3A-2 matchup.
Boyce, a 189-pound senior, scored five rushing touchdowns as Prague upped its district record to 3-0. The Red Devils are tied for the 3A-2 top spot with Jones, a 60-0 victor over McLoud Friday night.
Boyce mauled Little Axe for 240 rushing yards on 31 carries. He also had a 2-point conversion run.
Prague will entertain Jones Friday night at 7:30.
Senior quarterback Elway Farriell had a rushing touchdown and completed 9 of 16 passes for 168 yards without suffering an interception.
Austin Lee caught four passes for 42 yards and one touchdown. Jake Schultz had three catches for 105 yards.
Prague chalked up 302 rushing yards on 43 carries while Little Axe was held to 309 yards on 32 attempts.
Jacob VanOster, a 230-pound senior lineman, got Prague off to a great start when he intercepted a screen pass on the first play of the game and returned it 14 yards to the Little Axe 6-yard line.
Teammate Austin Chesser also recorded an interception.
Prague led 27-0 at halftime and 35-0 after three quarters.
“W played pretty well on defense,” Prague coach John Graham said. “They’re pretty talented but we flew to the ball. Our offensive line came off the ball well. We’ve had a lot of guys step up because of some injuries.
“We thought we could run the ball well against them, and Calvin was great with his north-and-south running.”
