Hallie Wilson led off the bottom of the inning with a single and Saidey Smith tripled to drive in the first run of the game. Tatum Sparks hit a double and Kristin Haddox singled to each drive in a run and take a 3-1 lead.

Shawnee scored the deciding run in the bottom of the fifth as a caught bunt was turned to second for an attempted double play but allowed the winning run to come in from third.

Newcastle earned three runs in the sixth on a triple after a single and two errors juiced the bases.

Shawnee will begin the state tournament Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City as they face Piedmont.
