SHAWNEE – Emily Griffith has been named the Great American Conference Co-Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Griffith split the honor with East Central's Chloe Hull.
Griffith, a redshirt freshman from Parker, Colorado, helped Oklahoma Baptist go 1-0-1 last week against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State to wrap up the regular season. She averaged five saves per match while posting a .90 goals-against average for the week. Griffith also picked up her GAC-best eighth shutout of the year, blanking the GAC's top offense with a seven save performance against the Bulldogs, including four saves against the top scorer in Division II, Alimata Rabo. This is the third time Griffith has taken home weekly honors this year.
Oklahoma Baptist has now claimed 11 weekly awards from the GAC this year, more than any other team in the conference.
The Lady Bison (14-1-3, 9-0-3 GAC) open up GAC Tournament play on Thursday when they host No. 4 seed East Central at 6 p.m. at the OBU Soccer Complex.
