MEEKER — Senior Ashley VanSchuyver posted five of her game-high 16 points in overtime Tuesday night as Meeker edged Luther 54-49.

Schuyver was 5 of 6 from the charity stripe in overtime as Meeker outscored Luther 10-5.

Luther’s Caitlin Bailey hit two free throws with :02 left in regulation to send the contest into OT at 49-49.

Lexi Lopez of Meeker added nine points, including a trey.

Aubrey Pruitt of Meeker rang up a 3-point field goal in OT.

Raychel Stanfield was Luther’s top scorer with 11.

Meeker canned 11 of 20 free throws. Luther was just 13 of 29.

Meeker will tackle Elgin, ranked 10th in Class 4A, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the opening round of the OBU Tournament.

Boys

Luther jumped out to a 28-9 lead after one quarter and went on to whip Meeker 75-45.

It was Meeker’s first loss after three victories.

Joe Coker led Meeker’s scoring with 13, followed by Dylan Thomas with 10.

Meeker will try to get back on the winning track at 6 p.m. Thursday when it meets Kingston, ranked second in Class 3A, at the OBU Tournament.
