ADA – Chase Morris put up 17 points and three other Shawnee players put up double-digit scoring numbers as the No. 20 in Class 6A Wolves took down 4A Newcastle 68-49 Friday in their opening game of the Ada Tournament.

Ramey Harrison put on nine points and Morris had seven in the first quarter with a 3-pointer apiece as the Wolves went ahead 18-11 early on and took a 32-24 lead into halftime. Shawnee kept it up to outscore Newcastle 36-25 in the second half.

Newcastle's Alex Reyes led all scorers with 21 points and had five 3-point buckets.

Daryl Busby had 12 points for Shawnee and Harrison and Carson Meier had 11 each. Meier had all of his points in the second half and the Wolves were 7-10 from the line to Newcastle's 2-5.

Shawnee (3-5) will play in the semifinal game Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Ada.
