SALLISAW – The McLoud wrestling team finished sixth at the Paul Post Tournament in Sallisaw Saturday with five medal winners led by 152-pound Jakob Hudlow, who finished first in his weight class.
Hudlow beat Cascia Hall's Jake Weller by fall in a little over five minutes in the 152-pound championship match. Hudlow won each of his five contested matches by fall and had four bye's.
Elijah Reece finished fourth in the 120-pound weight class with four wins by fall and three losses. Reece fell to Duncan's Blayton Montgomery 37 seconds into his semifinal match and was pinned in 1:06 by Hayden Lemmons from Cushing in the third-place match.
Kalix Nelson (126), Blake Hall (132) and Zaine Bailey (195) each also lost their semifinal and third-place matches to finish fourth in their weight classes.
Nelson lost his fourth round match to Sulphur's Konner Lunsford via a 5-3 decision but won his next three matches by fall to earn a spot in the semifinals. He lost to Marlow's Anthony Orum on a 15-6 major decision in the semifinal match and was pinned in 2:57 in the third-place match by Duncan's Connor Riddles.
Hall barely lost an 11-10 decision to Jordan Taylor in his semifinal match and was beaten by Gavin Wood of Cushing on a 12-3 major decision in the third-place bout.
Bailey went undefeated into the seventh round before suffering three straight losses to finish fourth in the 195-pound weight class. He lost to William Simpson by fall in 4:59 in his seventh round match and was pinned three minutes into his semifinal match with Tyler Thacker from Van Buren. Jay's Levi Sanford won the third-place bout via technical fall.
Cobe Meyer (138) and Karson Cue (113) each finished fifth to win their consolation brackets.
