STROUD—The Meeker Lady Bulldogs earned a hard fought road victory Tuesday night, as they held on to a 45-44 win over the Stroud Lady Tigers.
Stroud jumped to an early 11-7 lead after the first quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs stormed back in the second to take a 20-19 lead into the half. The two squads played an even second half, each scoring 25 points.
Meeker got the better of things in the fourth quarter, building a 3-point, 45-52 lead with five seconds remaining. The Lady Bulldogs defense took away any chance for a Stroud 3-pointer and the Lady Tigers settled for a deuce to make the final count 45-44 as the game ended.
Maddie Hedge led Meeker in scoring with 19 points including four three-pointers. Ashley Vanschuyver netted 13 for the Lady Bulldogs.
Ashlyn Young led Stroud with 19 points.
Meeker improves to 9-7 on the season and will travel to face Wellston on Friday night.
