TECUMSEH — A 14-5 overtime advantage carried Tecumseh to a 59-50 triumph over Jones Friday night.

Tecumseh missed the last shot of regulation, necessitating OT with a tie at 45.

The Savages (12-7) scored five points in the opening :30 of OT as Zathan Bowman hit a 3-pointer off the tip and Anthony Billy followed with a steal and layup.

Bowman fueled the offense with 18 points, including 6 in the overtime. Billy and Kameron Permetter recorded 10 apiece, with Permetter posting 4 in overtime.

Bowman knocked down 4-of-8 shots from 3-point range. Jayden Shafer added nine points, including two treys in the third quarter.

Permetter led Tecumseh with 6 rebounds.

Tecumseh went 8 of 14 from the charity stripe.

Girls

The Lady Savages couldn’t find their shooting eye and dropped a 50-28 decision to Jones.

The visitors, who never trailed, led 23-8 at the intermission.

Jones had three players score in double figures. Tecumseh’s top scorer was Madison Day with 7. Day had Tecumseh’s sole 3-point field goal.

Tawny Billy added 6 points for Tecumseh (4-14).

Starting Tecumseh point guard Kilee Jones was unable to play because of a throat injury suffered Tuesday night.

Tecumseh was 5 of 7 from the charity stripe. Jones was 10 of 27.

“The kids played hard on defense but we missed a lot of shots,” Tecumseh coach Matt Thornton said.

Both Tecumseh teams will play Tuesday at Seminole.
