MAUD—The Maud Lady Tigers mauled the visiting Macomb Lady Hornets 54-35, during homecoming on Friday night.
Macomb came into the contest short-handed, as they had just five players suited up for the tussle, and with :34 remaining in the first half were down to four when Mariah Carolina picked up her fifth personal foul.
The game was close for a quarter, with Maud taking a 10-8 lead into the second frame. From there, the Maud depth and Lady Hornet foul trouble tilted the advantage to the Lady Tigers.
Cassidy Harman and Jocee Sparks led the second half charge for Maud. Harman scored 14 of her team-high 23 points in the first half while Sparks scored all 12 of her points in the half. The Lady Tigers scored 28 points in the second quarter to coast to a 38-16 halftime lead.
The pace and the scoring slowed way down in the second half, with Macomb outscoring the Lady Tigers 19-16. Macomb's Kelsey Dillon scored all but four of the Lady Hornets second half points. She finished with 23 points in a gutsy effort. Ashton Powell added nine for Macomb.
The Lady Tigers' biggest lead of the game came at the 3:45 mark of the third quarter on a Harman steal and layup. Maud led 47-19 then slowed the pace and took a player out to even the court with four players on each squad.
