HARRAH – Leticia Cervantes was named Suburban Conference MVP Friday and the Lady Wolves and Shawnee boys took second at their conference meet.
Cervantes easily won the girls 500-yard freestyle race in 5:51.25 to blow out Carl Albert's Briana Shaw with a 6:22.97. She also took first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:25.95, ahead of teammate Lauren Grein's 2:42.70 and helped the girls 200 medley relay (2:03.13) and 200 freestyle realy (1:50.56) to second place finishes.
Madeline Motley, Breeanna Lee, Avery Hadley and Savannah Smith swam the girls 400 relay to finish second in the event with a time of 4:18.77.
Hadley (2:24.95) and Kadyn Drummond (2:34.60) took second and third in the 200-yard freestyle and Hadley finished third in the 500 with a time of 6:36.85.
Isabel Webb (27.38) and Jordyn Sateren finished third and fourth in a pool of 24 in the girls 50-yard freestyle and Webb took second in the 100 back with a time of 1:11.54. Smith took second in the 100 breatstroke with a time of 1:23.25 and Sateren took third in the 100 free with a time of 1:02.33. Grein took second in the 100 butterfly with a 1:09.35.
On the boys side, Dustin Ortiz, Kiergan Gibson, Trent Ogden and Cade Mikish started things off on the right foot with a 1:54.11 time to win the 200 medley relay. Ogden, Darren Pennington, Brodie Morris and Mikish took second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:42.03.
Morris won the 200 freestyle race with a time of 1:59.34 as Pennington finished third at 2:19.29 and Morris took second in the 500 free after posting a 5:34.15.
Ogden continued his winnings habits with first place finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.32) and 100 back (1:02.78).
Gibson came in second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:12.92, Nick Tro came in second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:11.99 and Dustin Ortiz finished with a time of 59.65 in the 100 free to take third.
Shawnee will compete in the regional meet this Friday and Saturday at the Jenks Aquatic Center. Warm ups will begin at 8:30 and the meet will start at 10 on both days.
