Shawnee’s Lady Wolves continue to slowly climb the 6A rankings with playoff positioning on the horizon.

Shawnee improved one spot against this week to No. 14. The Lady Wolves have more chances to prove themselves in the next couple of weeks. Tonight they head to Guthrie to meet the 5A No. 12 Lady Bluejays. Friday, they are the first act in the Homecoming festivities as they host Western Heights. The Lady Jets lost 62-18 to El Reno – a team Shawnee just beat Friday.

Shawnee hosts 5A No. 10 Piedmont next Tuesday before heading to 4A No. 2 Harrah for a rematch of their opening night game that the Lady Wolves lost in overtime. The game in Harrah is a Saturday night contest.

The Prague and Dale girls each retained their No. 3 rankings in 3A and 2A respectively. Dale hosts 2A No. 1 Christian Heritage tonight in a rematch of a game the Lady Pirates lost earlier this season. It doesn’t get much easier for Dale later this week as they head to Class B No. 3 Varnum.

Prague has home games against Stroud (Tuesday), Tecumseh (Friday) and Meeker (Saturday) this week.

On the boys’ side, Shawnee remains unranked after several weeks of fighting illness, injury and a tough schedule. Shawnee plays at 3-12 Guthrie tonight and 3-11 Western Heights for Homecoming. Next week, they take on 5A No. 12 Piedmont and 8-10 Harrah the following Saturday.

Dale has been ranked in the top five this season, but they dropped all the way out of the Top 20. The 10-10 Pirates have enough quality wins to make it back into the rankings at No. 20 this week.

The Pirates have games against 2A No. 7 Christian Heritage tonight, Class B Varnum Friday, Class 2A No. 17 Vanoss at home Feb. 6 and a road game Feb. 9 against 2A No. 5 Wewoka. The Pirates will have a good idea of how they stack up against the best in 2A by the time the playoffs begin.

Seminole stayed at No. 14 in 4A this week. The Chieftains host 12-7 Tecumseh tonight and head to 2A No. 11 Okemah – who beat the Chieftains for the conference tournament title – on Friday. They go on the roadSaturday to 2A No. 5 Wewoka and host Prague next Tuesday.

Other games this week include tonight’s action with Meeker at Chandler and Bowlegs at Earlsboro. Friday’s slate of games also includes Mason at Earlsboro, New Lima at Maud, Bethel at Little Axe, McLoud at Harrah, and Stroud at Meeker.
