SHAWNEE – By the time the teams went to the lockers at halftime Friday night, there was little doubt that Shawnee was going to emerge victorious over Western Heights The Lady Wolves got off to a slow start, but quickly changed the narrative and went into the half with a 29-10 lead in the 47-30 win.

Shawnee trailed Western Heights 10-7 with 57.6 left in the first but went on a 22-0 run to close off the half.

Makyra Tramble made a bucket to get within one as the first quarter drew to a close and Emily Hudson hit a jumper at the buzzer to give the Lady Wolves their first lead of the game. Monica Brooks kept the streak going with a shot and Brooklynne Price put the finishing touches with a jump shot with three seconds left in the half. Tramble earned a late steal to take a last second shot but couldn't find the iron.

The Lady Jets made it to the line shortly into the second half but came up empty. Their scoreless streak was finally ended halfway through the third quarter with a 3-pointer by Ashley Castro.

Kasey Rice made two free-throws with three minutes left in the third to give the Lady Wolves a 44-13 lead as the Lady Wolves' reserves came in for the remainder of the game.

Western Heights put up 12 unanswered points before Aliyah Morris stopped the bleeding on a trey with 4:02 left in the game.

Lauren Fields led the Lady Wolves with 11 points, Brooks had 10 and Tramble put in nine.

No. 14 in 6A Shawnee (16-3) will travel to 5A No. 10 Piedmont Tuesday.
