MEEKER — Quality first and third-quarter performances carried Meeker to a 65-52 triumph over Stroud Friday night.

Meeker (10-8) jumped out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter, then expanded its halftime lead of 30-25 with a 13-5 burst in the third quarter.

Josh Whitfield led Meeker’s scoring with 13 points. Justis Nelson and Brett Roach tossed in 12 points apiece as Meeker went to 2-0 versus Stroud this season.

Cale Coleman and Dylan Thomas added 9 points apiece for the victors. Thomas knocked down three shots from 3-point range.

Meeker was 8 of 15 from the line. Stroud was 9 of 12.

Peter Jenkins tallied 15 points for Stroud.

Meeker will travel to Prague tonight. The girls’ game will launch the evening.
