Lady Bulldogs trounce Seminole to close regular season

MEEKER – In their final game before hosting Districts on Friday, the Meeker girls took care of Seminole 57-23 Monday night.

The Lady Bulldogs took an 18-5 lead after the first and kept the Lady Chieftains scoreless in the second quarter to dominate 36-5 in the first half. Things slowed down after that but Meeker easily held on for the win.

Ashley Vanschuyver led all scorers with 12 points and Emily Trevino had 10. Maddie Hedge had nine, Aubrey Pruitt put up eight and Lexi Lopez contributed seven. Vanschuyver and Mallory Chapman had a 3-pointer apiece and Trevino dropped two treys.

Seminole's Khya Mitchell, Abby Carter, Destiny Tiger, Audrey Kotchavar, Ashley Baker and Anna Andrews each had three points. Hayden Harjo and Lilea King had two apiece and Lauren Cheatwood chipped in one.

Meeker (11-12) will host Henryetta at 6:30 Saturday for the Area 2-District 2 title. Seminole (3-17) will host Byng in the Class 4A Area 4-District 3 championship game Friday at 6:30. 

Whitfield's 27 not enough to get Meeker by Seminole

MEEKER – Josh Whitfield put on an impressive 27 point performance Monday night but the underdog Meeker Bulldogs fell to Seminole 75-57 at home Monday to cap off their regular season.

The Bulldogs led 13-12 after the first but fell behind on a Seminole 24-14 second quarter run to trail 36-27 at halftime. The Chieftains outscored Meeker the rest of the way to take the win.

Whitfield led all scorers, Dylan Thomas had 11 with two treys and Justis Nelson had one 3-pointer and finished with eight points.

Shemmario Stephens and Kasan Clarke had 22 apiece to lead Seminole and Adam Nance had 16.

Meeker (11-11) hosts Henryetta at 8 p.m. Saturday for the Class 3A Area 2-District 2 title. Seminole moves to 17-4 on the season with the win and will host Byng Friday at 8 p.m. for the Class 4A Area 4-District 3 championship.
