Lady Pirates add to win column
NEWCASTLE – The Dale girls beat Newcastle 46-35 on the road Monday to close out their regular season with a 22-3 record.
The Lady Pirates led 20-8 at halftime but gave up a 13-18 run in the third to lose a little ground. They rebounded for a 13-9 run in the fourth to hold on for the win.
Lindy Nowakowski led all scorers with 13 points and four boards. Claire Chastain had 12 points, five rebounds and four blocks and Mikayla Rutland had nine points and eight rebounds. Elaine Witt had four points and made four steals.
The Lady Pirates will host Pawhuska and Rejoice Christian this weekend for districts. Dale will play the winner of the two challengers Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Dale boys take down Newcastle
NEWCASTLE – The Pirates of Dale ended the regular season portion of their schedule with a 46-35 win at Newcastle Monday.
The Pirates lost out to Newcastle 23-21 in the first quarter but put on an 11-5 second quarter and 26-18 run in the second half to key the win.
Brady Johnson and Gabe Gouge had 12 points each to lead Dale and Ike Shirey put in 11. Trae Thompson had nine and Logan Woodruff finished with six.
Newcastle's Blaize Driskill led all players with 19 points.
Dale 14-11 will play the winner of Rejoice Christian and Pawhuska Saturday at 8 for the district title.
