BETHEL ACRES — Bethel’s boys, despite losing a heartbreaking 66-63 overtime decision to Mt. St. Mary’s Tuesday night, made a dramatic turnaround.

In a Jan. 9 meeting between the two squads, Bethel was the recipient of a 44-point beating.

Tuesday, the visitors hit a 3-point field goal with 1.2 seconds remaining in OT for the victory.

Bethel almost claimed a win in regulation, only to have St. Mary’s hit two free throws for a 55-55 tie with four seconds to play. Bethel had a shot blocked at the regulation buzzer, necessitating the overtime.

The Wildcats outscored the visitors 12-7 in the fourth quarter.

Jaylen Gordon and Ben Pfeiff shared Bethel scoring honors with 16 points. Colin Meiler drilled three shots from past the 3-point line en route to 11 points. Teammate Anthony Franklin posted two treys and finished with 10 points.

Gordon also netted a 3-pointer.

Bethel (12-11) will challenge Tulsa Central at 7 p.m. Friday in a Class 4A district matchup at Tulsa Central.

Girls

Bethel fell into a 21-9 hole after one quarter and went on to drop a 50-34 decision to St. Mary’s.

Kennedy Gregory was Bethel’s only double-figure scorer with 12. Kelsie Wood and Paige Hubler chipped in five points apiece.

Bethel has a district bye.
