SEMINOLE—Bombs away! Kason Clark and the Seminole Chieftains took full advantage of Byng's packed in zone defense Friday night, sinking the Pirates 63-25 to capture the Class 4A-District 4 title.

Clark benefited the most from the arc, hitting seven of Seminole's 10 made three-pointers including two in the first three minutes of the game to set the tone for the evening. Clark finished the game with a game-high 27 points.

“They really packed in their zone on us tonight,” said Seminole head coach Josh Edenborough. “He (Clark) really took advantage of that.”

The Chieftains took control early. As impressive as the offensive was, the defense was even more so. Seminole held the Pirates to just three first quarter points and eight for the half. Byng hit just two field goals in the 16 minutes of first half play.

“We were really locked in on defense,” said Edenborough. “When the playoffs hit, everyone gets amped up and we played at another level of intensity on defense tonight. I'll sleep well tonight.”

The Chieftains led 16-3 after the first quarter and 31-8 at intermission. Clark had 18 of his 27 in the first half. Three other starters, (Cepado Wilkins, Shemmario Stephens and Dayton Jackson) hit treys in the half.

Seminole continued their dominance in the third quarter, building the lead to 49-19 and once again, Clark was doing the majority of the damage. He hit three more treys in the quarter which led to clean-up time by the reserves for both squads in the fourth.

“We held them to 25 points tonight,” said Edenborough. “This was the best defense we've played all season.”

Stephens joined Clark in double figures, hitting for 12 points. They were the only two Chieftains in double figures. Adam Nance added six points.

Seminole will now set their sights on Regional play next Thursday night. They will face the winner of the Pauls Valley-Southeast matchup that will occur tonight. The first round of the Regional will be played in Pauls Valley at 8 p.m.
