SEMINOLE—The Seminole Lady Chieftains ran into a buzz saw Friday night, as the Byng Lady Pirates took the Class 4A-District 4 crown with a 56-21 win.
The Lady Pirates, behind a pesky full-court trapping defense, gave Seminole fits all night. Byng built a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 25-13 at the half. Abby Carter led Seminole with six first half points, on two treys.
Any hopes of a third quarter rally was squelched by the Byng defense. The Lady Pirates held Seminole scoreless in the third, building a 42-13 lead.
The Lady Pirates had three players reach double figures, led by Jordan Eaton's 12 points. Abby Wilson and Kennedy large each scored ten for Byng.
Carter led Seminole with seven points, while Kat Childress added six. She hit two treys for the Lady Chieftains. Aubrey Kotchavar netted five.
Seminole will play the loser of tonight's Pauls Valley-Southeast tussle on Thursday afternoon. It's do or die time now for the Lady Chieftains. A loss on Thursday will end the season, while a win will set up another Regional game next Friday.
