VARNUM – The Wildcats of Earlsboro overcame Kinta in the Class B regional title game at Varnum Saturday 63-51 to emerge as regional champs.
Kinta gave the Wildcats one of their few trailing scores all season after the first quarter of play, but a 19-7 Earlsboro run in the second gave the Wildcats a 31-21 advantage at the halftime break. The Wildcats continued to outscore Kinta 16-7 in the third quarter and a 23-16 Kinta run in the fourth couldn't catch up.
Trey Herron (17) Elijah Stargell (16) and Kaveon Sharp (16) each finished with double-digits to lead the Wildcats to victory. Garrett Lena and Cordell King each contributed seven. Stargell also brought down 10 boards for the double-double and Sharp and Herron were each one shy, with nine rebounds apiece.
Earlsboro (26-1) will play at Stroud in the area finals next Friday at 8 p.m.
