BETHEL – The Lady Wildcats of Bethel suffered a 40-20 loss to Broken Bow at home in their Area 4 regional tournament Friday to drop into the consolation bracket of the tournament.

Kirsten Winters and Paige Hubler put up buckets for Bethel to start the game with a 4-0 lead, but 11 straight by Broken Bow left the Lady Wildcats with an 11-4 deficit after the first.

Hubler and Harley Gregory each made a free throw to start the second and Haith Hanna hit a trey to get within two, but the Lady Savages dominated the rest of the half and went into the break with a 23-9 lead.

Broken Bow kept the advantage the rest of the way for the win.

Broken Bow's Trini-Tee Haney led all scorers with 12 points, Jules Callahan and Alishea Owens each had seven and Deja James and Jacelyn Valdez put in six apiece.

Bethel coach Tara Satterfield was happy with the defense her team played, but was disappointed that they weren't able to convert and make baskets.

“They executed perfectly, I couldn't have asked them to do anything different on the defensive end of the floor, but we couldn't score. Gotta score. Gotta execture on the other end by turning those into points,” she said.

Winters led Bethel with four and Laney O'Rorke, Skylar Pollard, Hanna and Hubler each had three.

Bethel will play Southeast today at 6:30 p.m. The loser will advance and the winner will be done for the season.
