ARDMORE — Plainview, sparked by a 23-7 eruption in the third quarter, dealt McLoud a season-ending 65-52 defeat Friday night at a Class 4A regional.

McLoud was within 1 point with 30 seconds left in the first half but Plainview knocked down two 3-point field goals for a 28-21 halftime advantage. Plainview led 51-28 entering the final quarter.

Garret Wilson, one of three McLoud seniors, led all scorers with 24 points, including 5 of 7 from the charity stripe.

Brandon Vinson added 13 points for the Redskins and teammate Tristan Crook added 10, including two 3-pointers.

McLoud was 14 of 19 from the line as Vinson went 7 of 10. Plainview (22-4) finished 8 of 10.

Chase Mahtapene and Landry Willis also concluded their prep basketball careers.

Girls

McLoud saw its season end at 9-15 with a 55-48 setback to Plainview.

Finishing in double-scoring figures for McLoud were Lexie Boyer (15), Cheyenne Banks (13) and Karlie Norwood (10).

“I was proud of our fight, proud of our effort and excited for what lies ahead of us,” McLoud coach Doug Armstrong said. “I couldn’t be more proud of the fight that our girls showed.”
