OWASSO – Creed Killgore drove in five runs Saturday to help Shawnee earn their first win of the season in a 9-1 trouncing of Berryhill on the road in the Wolves second game of the season.
Killgore went 3-3 with a solo homer and Luis Villalobos hit a single shot in the bottom of the second.
Killgore singled to center in the bottom of the first to drive in Scout Cawvey and Austin Wood for a 2-0 lead.
Jacob Hill was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the second to bring in Cawvey again and Killgore followed up with a two-run double to right.
Morgan Lunceford got the start for the Wolves and struck out six and walked two through the first two innings to give the Wolves an edge early on.
“Morgan came out and set the tone early,” coach Kevin Paxson said.
Lunceford earned the win after giving up one run on four hits and fanning eight in five innings of work.
Cawvey went 3-3, had one double and drove in two runs. Wood was 1-3 with a double and scored twice.
The team was better prepared for Saturday's outing than they were in an 11-10 home loss to Enid to open up the season Friday.
“We came out ready to play today,” Paxson said.
