SEMINOLE — Shawnee’s boys, propelled by a first-place finish from No. 1 singles performer Cody Parman, captured Saturday’s Seminole Tournament.
Parman defeated a state qualifier from Harrah (6-2, 6-3), a state qualifier from U.S. Grant (6-1, 6-4), and entrants from Northwest Classen (6-0, 6-1) and Western Heights (3-6, 6-4, 11-9).
No. 2 singles entrant Logan Clayton came in second with victories over Harrah (6-1 6-0), U.S. Grant (6-3, 6-3) and Northwest Classen (6-0, 6-0).
The No. 1 doubles team of Brennan Roark and Zach Young came in first by defeating foes from Harrah (6-1, 6-1) and U.S. Grant (6-3, 6-0). The No. 2 doubles team of Ben and Ray Shankland was second, including a tie-breaking loss to U.S. Grant (3-6, 6-2, 8-10). The duo posted wins over Harrah and U.S. Grant.
On March 2, Shawnee placed ninth in the Carl Albert Tournament.
Roark and Young took the No. 1 doubles title, defeating Putnam North , Putnam West and Choctaw after losing to Mustang.
No. 2 singles performer Luke Presley lost in the consolation finals to Piedmont (4-6, 6-3, 5-10) after defeating Putnam West and Choctaw.
