HOLDENVILLE — A splendid pitching effort by Bethel’s Jake Williams ended with Bethel dropping a a 3-2 decision to Holdenville Thursday.
Williams threw 112 pitches before a game-winning, one-out Holdenville single in the bottom of the 10th inning doomed Bethel to the defeat. Bethel fell to 1-3.
Williams, in 9 1/3 innings, permitted eight hits, struck out seven and walked two.
Bethel, by scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, held a 2-0 lead before Holdenville tied in at 2 in the bottom of the sixth.
Bethel accumulated eight hits as Brendan Carlile led the way with a double and a single. Carlile also drew two walks.
Wildcat Ben Lauck went 2 for 4 with two singles and a run batted in.
Three-hole hitter Terrell Dodson posted a run-scoring double while Seth Jackson tripled and scored.
Carter Monday and LW Moore of Bethel stole two bases apiece.
Bethel will travel to Purcell at 4:30 today before being idle Saturday.
Monday, the Wildcats will play at Heritage Hall. Heritage Hall will return the favor by playing Tuesday at Bethel. The busy week will continue Thursday with Bridge Creek coming to Bethel before the Wildcats play next Friday at Christian Heritage.
