DALE — After dropping its season opener Friday, Dale ripped Varnum 12-0 Tuesday.
A 12-11 loser at Morris Friday, Dale scored its final run Tuesday in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game was stopped on the 12-run-after-4 innings rule.
The Lady Pirates posted 16 hits with Jobey Savage leading the way with three— a 3-run home run in the third and two singles.
Sara Lock blasted a 2-run roundtripper in the second to go along with a single. Delanie Manning had a solo home run in the third.
Mikayla Rutland added a double and a single, as did Jalynn Haley.
Kaylee Lawson was the winning pitcher as the Whippets were limited to three hits.
“We played OK,” Dale coach Andy Powell said. “We have a lot of improvement to make.”
Dale’s next action will be Thursday at the Moore Big Cat Classic. The Lady Pirates will tackle Chandler at 12:40 and Mustang at 3:20.
Friday, Dale’s Classic slate will be Moore at 10 a.m. and Tecumseh at 2 p.m.
The Lady Pirates have to finish first in their pool to advance to Saturday’s finals.
